Professional write ups from a Professional Tipster

Ed Culham produces some of the best content we’ve ever seen. His write ups are phenomenal, and he shows that his knowledge of the sport is out of this world at every opportunity.

15:40 York – Mustajeer – 16/1 – one point each way

Irish raider who ran well in this contest last year when finishing 4th off the same mark of 108.

This season he has been campaigned more aggressively by Ger Lyons, with 4 runs in Group company. At Navan in the Group 3 Vintage Crop Stakes he put in a fine performance when staying on well, only to be outbattled by Master Of Reality, finishing 2nd in front of A P O’Brien’s Southern France. Master Of Reality has since gone on to prove his class when finishing 3rd in the Ascot Gold Cup, while Southern France got back to winning ways in the recent Irish St Ledger Trial. Mustajeer was again closely matched with that rival in his last outing, a Group 2 at the Curragh, when finishing a head behind that runner in 5th. Those runs over the Ebor trip show he should be competitive on the same mark as last year (108) and if the ground is on the quick side, he could be a serious threat.

Endured a tough run in the Ebor last year, when coming right from the back of the field and finishing quickly for 4th. Off the same mark, he looks a strong each way play.

Who is Ed Culham?

Find out more about Ed Culham…

Although I was too young to remember it, my grandmother was a permit holder and had a few winners over jumps at courses like Perth, Carlisle and Musselburgh. Her passion for racing must have been passed on.

For me there is nothing that beats watching racehorses in full flow, gliding over the turf, or conversely slogging through heavy going in an attritional 3 mile chase. Much of my time spent watching racing has been from my home courses of Carlisle, Ayr and Hamilton, as well as some of the larger courses around the UK.

I believe that there is virtually no knowledge that can’t be gained from watching a horse run, and racing fans are now fortunate with such comprehensive race replay services enabling us to be ‘everywhere at once.’

How did the horse move on the ground? How did they respond to pressure? Did they receive a heavy ride? Were they perhaps being kept for another day? The answer to all these questions comes from careful race analysis.

There is so much racing, and so many potential betting opportunities that I feel in order to be successful you have to find your niche and stick to it. I limit myself to high quality, festival and weekend racing (Saturdays and some Sundays). In doing so I have a far more manageable ‘pool’ of horses to assess, and one that I can get to know increasingly well as the season progresses.
I particularly like following form lines, improving horses, class droppers and finding runners that are re-adjusting to or just arriving at their best trips. All these are methods I use to latch on to winners.

My approach is a careful one, with a limited number of bets a festival or weekend. I like staking each-way, often half a point especially if the selection is available at odds of 10/1 or greater. I am confident in my approach, that I can find winners, and more importantly winners at good value to turn a strong profit in the long term.

Should you choose to subscribe, I will provide comprehensive reasoning behind each of my selections and leave no stone unturned in pursuit of winners.

Thanks. Be lucky!
